Nissan GT-R Proto

The “GT-R Concept” drew a lot of attention when it was suddenly revealed at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show. The “GT-R Proto” is a concrete step towards creating a base production vehicle, and was first exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005. There have been absolutely no announcements about the specifications of the vehicle, except that “it will be released in 2007 in virtually the same form”.

The exterior design can be said to be brute and untamed, but it shares a concept with Skyline GT-Rs of the past: its existence itself is an expression and living proof that “this, is the form of a Japanese sports car”. The jagged line of the C pillar was met with mixed opinion, and there are other very distinctive lines and planes employed in the rooflines, rear windows, etc. as well.

There have been non-stop inquiries from reporters from all over the world during its press days, and the vehicle has been swamped by visitors at general public exhibitions, proving that the anticipation and expectation for the GT-R and Japanese sports cars of the future, is still burning strong.
